Student Achievements: IT for Me

Students on the TDP course, IT for Me have learnt how to use a new software application in the Summer Term of 2016: Microsoft Publisher 2010.WEA tutor Nusrat Hathiari wanted them to learn desktop publishing skills after they have learnt the basics of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. They have used their new found skills to create birthday cards for fellow class members and thank you cards for the teachers and support staff. This is what the students had to say:

Becky: I feel as though I am able to create such advanced birthday cards and Nus lets us use our imagination freely. I have really enjoyed using Publisher this term.

Lee: I have created several posters but enjoyed creating one celebrating the LCFC win the most. Nus has advised me to study the Level 1 Clait course which I am looking forward to in September 2016.

Christopher: I am delighted when I see the faces of my friends and family when I give them the cards I created during the session. Avani is a wonderful support tutor without whom I would not be able to complete my learning outcomes. I look forward to returning in September 2016.

Service users from Deacon and Hardy, WEA partner organisation also benefit from attending the course and are pleased with their progress.

Stephen: I look forward to this course every Wednesday. Both Shaz and Nus support me when needed and encourage me when I feel down.

Gail: Even if I miss a session, I always ask Nus to give Shaz the work to catch up on at home. I have learnt so many new skills and am proud of my achievements.

I have learnt such a lot from my English classes. I have learnt lots of new words and my confidence has really grown. I feel better about myself now. It’s my ambition to be a book-keeper but I know I have to improve at reading to do that. I also want to be more independent, so I will keep on practising. I have just passed my E1 English, my first ever exam.”
