Family history workshops staring in January

Kevin Brown’s recent return to the city of his birth was in part due to his passion for teaching people to research their own family history.

Students learn how to use birth, marriage, death and parish records and extensive use of censuses usually constructs a family tree back to as early as 1800 quite rapidly.

As students add to their experience other sources uncover more detailed stories of ordinary people leading significant lives.

There is a lot of sharing, group games and fun to be had as new leaves are added to trees week by week.

From January, courses are offered on Thursday 6.30 to 8.30 pm and Fridays 9.30 to 11.30 am in the ICT Annexe on Shafestbury Road – more details.
