Students demonstrate soft furnishing skills

WEA students at the Shama Womens’ Centre began a brand new course in January to learn soft furnishing skills.  They are concentrating on cushion making skills.  They practise each decorative technique on small samples, before trying these out on cushions.

Dilshad Said made the cushion below on the left and Nama Karin, the one on the right:

Fazia Sicandai has been practising a range of technqiues.  All students have been able to pratise overlocking technqiues using their newly supplied domestic overlockers:

Minakshi Makwana has used these black and gold fabrics to practice different skills:
