Story of Leicester

WEA tutor, Rikke Digerud-Waring, has been working with students at one of the city’s day centres to produce a beautiful mosaic that tells the Story of Leicester.

Rikke says, ‘We have tried to include different cultural imagery as well.  We traced the images of well known buildings (students chose them) from photos on the net.  The foreground is the Roman mosaic patterns from Jewry Wall museum. We painted the right colours on paper and cut out squares to make mosaics. Students loved it so much we did the buildings the same way! The Richard 3rds are painted as well as the Diwali lanterns.’
