Students share their poems

Students in the summer term’s Creative Writing course wrote some poems in their final session based on ‘kennings.’  What are these you may be asking?  Simply put – short, snappy, descriptive, emotive poems.  (Check out this link if you want a more grammatical answer).
WEA tutor, Hilary Lewis explains, ‘These are on an animal theme and were stimulated by Andrew Motion’s poem Sparrow. It was really just a chance to play with language but they are fun to read.’
I thoroughly enjoyed them – see what you think:
If you would like try your hand at creative writing, then Hilary’s next course begins on Wednesday 18 September 2013, 2 to 3.30 pm.  Call 0116 255 6614 to enrol or Contact Us.    Go to Courses to download our brochure.
