Losing a job can knock your confidence, but Peter Guerney has taken this on as a new challenge and enrolled on 2 WEA courses: English and the Spelling Workshop. Peter says, ‘Preparing and doing a presentation in the English class helped me with speaking in public. It has kick started me into doing a few more things in my life.’
Ros Taylor, Peter’s tutor, adds, ‘Peter has excellent attendance. I am impressed with his general attitude during classes and the contributions he makes. His progress with written work has been very visible, too.’
‘In the summer, Peter was one of the WEA 101 branch students who took and passed level 1 Functional Skills awards in reading and writing. He just has speaking and listening to do to complete this level. We have been piloting these new awards and have enjoyed having him at one of our ‘guinea pigs’!
Peter concludes, ‘I have welcomed the chance to have some time to do some improving and will help with looing for work again.’
