Job skills for Amanda

Amanda Horne-w500-h500

Amanda Horne has used her computing course at the WEA Branch at 101 Hinckley Road, Leicester to achieve a whole clutch of job skills.

Amanda attended word and text processing classes with WEA tutor, Alka Champaneri, to achieve Diplomas at both levels 2 and 3 this summer.  On top of these skills, Amanda passed units in business presentations (Powerpoint), legal text processing, mail merge,  setting out complex documents and accurate copy typing.

Amanda explains, ‘In the past I used to be a practice manager in a drug and alcohol unit.  I now need to get up to date with current office technology to help me find a job.  A friend referred me to the WEA 101 Branch courses.  I enjoy the courses here.  It’s more personal than a large FE college.  I have really enjoyed meeting new people and socialising, too.’

Amanda is continuing her studies this autumn to brush up her keyboard skills, practising using all her fingers correctly so she can type even quicker.  She is also attending the Fast Track OCR CLAiT course to achieve Level 2, again to help finding a new job after taking some time out due to ill health.  We wish her well.
