photo-w500-h500Students as the Shama Womens’ Centre in Leicester are just completing their second, successful year of soft furnishing skills.  They have been working with WEA tutor, Tasneem Ali, to learn a whole range of new skills.  First, they concentrated on cushion design and making.  This year they have moved on to designing and making furnishings for a whole room.  Student Rashida has designed and sewn a small mock up of some beautiful draped curtains and central swag – see below.

If you would like to join the new course starting in September call 0116 251 4747 to put your name on the contact list.  You will need to come along to the enrolment day on Monday 1 September, 10 am to 2 pm at 39-45 Sparkenhoe St, Leicester LE2 0TD.  If you are claiming a free place, then do bring along up to date evidence of benefits.
