WEA tutor, Nusrat Hathiari, has been using her infectious enthusiasm and sense of humour when working with students in her Friday morning Working Creatively with Words class this year. Nusrat imaginatively uses a range of up to date topics to develop communications skills in reading, writing and listening.
Several students have shared their enjoyment of this class:
Becky Motley: ‘I was not too well last term so was unable to come, but am so glad I have come back this term. It was great to be back with my mates and loved the activities with Nusrat in the classroom. My favourite is completing word searches.’
Laura Johnson: ‘I enjoy coming here every week. I learn so much and have a fun time with my friends and am amazed how well we all get on. The atmosphere is great!’
Zoe Bordoli: ‘I have learnt so much in this class. Not only do we learn new words to add to our vocabulary we have learnt about new traditions, countries and even the history about existing ones such as Valentine’s Day! Nus has said there is much more to come and I can’t wait to learn more in September!’
Syvlan Brunetto: ‘Hilary has been such a great support for me and I enjoy working with her during the activities. We do loads of fun things like games and word searches and I look forward to coming every week’
Gavin Porter: I look upto Jonathan as a role model and enjoy coming to the courses. I don’t always like to participate in the class activities so Nus allows me to chat with Jonathan and it is normally related to the topic they are working on. I write lyrics using the words I have learnt in the class.’
