A series of Art Taster sessions were offered by WEA Tutors at Belgrave Hall and Gardens from April 2016 – May 2016. Annie Kinchington, expert WEA Art tutor offered two taster sessions and from the pictures it is evident that they both were a resounding success.

Victorian fabric samplers – Saturday 9th April 2016

Victorians made fabric samplers to show their skill and creativity with a needle. In this session students learnt how to make their own mini fabric sampler using various stitches. Students of all ages enjoyed the session and were pleased to take home their own samplers.

Victorian lavender wands/hearts –  Saturday 7th May 2016

The Victorians used the sweet perfume of lavender to scent themselves and linens. Students chose to make their lavender wand or lavender heart using simple weaving and sewing techniques. They were then able to take away their own lavender wands or hearts to disperse the fresh scent of lavender in their homes/cars.
